Dr Maria L Cambiaggi Holzmann graduated from the University of Buenos Aires. Dr Holzmann began her career as an assistant professor in the parasitology department of the University of Buenos Aires, contributing to research on mosquito monitoring, trichinella spiralis, and leishmaniasis in wild animals and zoonotic disease in endemic regions of Argentina, before spending two years in clinical practice at a family veterinary clinic. She subsequently relocated to New Zealand to work in dairy farm management before transitioning into mixed animal practice across New Zealand, providing care for small animals and consulting for dairy, beef, sheep, and deer operations. Her career has also taken her across Southeast Asia, where she has worked with elephants at the Elephant Conservation Center in Sainyabuli, Laos, provided clinical care in Ho Chi Minh City, and contributed to stray animal programmes in Thailand, India, and Myanmar.
